A RECIPE FOR BEES is one of those novels at which North American women seem to excel--an everyday story of country folk, but looking behind the facade of ordinariness....Enjoyable though this book is, it is not in Anne Tyler's league....There is not the biting humour or searching intelligence really needed to carry off such an everyday story."
