That s due to the specific nature of the activated carbon used in AllerAir air purifiers. Activated carbon contains millions of tiny pores and fissures that trap chemicals, gases and odors. The longer these pollutants are forced to hang around in the carbon bed, the better chance they have of being adsorbed. When you select the low speed, the air passes at a slower rate through the carbon filter, therefore giving the pollutants dwell time allowing them to be adsorbed more efficiently. This process is also helped along by AllerAir s deeper carbon beds. Particles, Chemicals and Odors: For a general improvement in air quality it s best to run the unit continuously on low.
