User Review: A nice additive to my collection. Adds tube warmth out of the box. When I replaced the stock tube with an Electro Harmonix tube it sounded heaps good.

Just the right boost and warmth!
"...I play a Roland VK-8 with a Ensonic lower keyboard and Hammond Midi-Bass Pedals. Motion Sound Pro-t with Low-Pro 120 and a twin 15' JBL cabinet driven by a Carver 1200 watt Mono Block Power Amp.
The Art tube mp drives the Carver and the sound is dead on the B-3.

"...If you push the gain to the point of audible clipping, the sound is not so pleasant. It might make a good ratty/fuzz effect but that's up to you.
Putting in a higher-quality tube way help with the overdrive tone.
But for what it's meant for, it does it very well!... See more

I bought one of these a few years ago replaced the tube a few times to keep it fresh, but other then that this unit is the best pre amp for the money.
warms up vocals great with a decent mic and cables, but it realy shines when used with an electric bass guitar.... See more

I can't believe people!!

The first second I plugged it in and clipped it I said to myself "This is no tube clipping." Looked in the manual, sure enough it says the signal path is mostly solid state.
Even so it only puts about 12v through the tube.... See more

"...Noise has not been a problem (don't use the boost unless you need it!!), but I agree there is a big difference when you use good cables! It's worth every bit of the price and a lot more!!
