It is pretty good little camera
"...It uses only two AA batteries. It has all kinds of controls ( manual and automatic mode ) The pictures taken are pretty good much above average.
This canon A510 is the same as the canon A95 and A75 for less than half price.
Compare this camera to the Gateway DC40, this A510 is better 10 to 1...."

"...
In conclusion, I can highly recommend the A510 and A520 to most people.
However, those who take a lot of photos in dim lighting (and by that I don't mean interior lighting, I mean darker than that) or fans of redeye-free photos may be frustrated with either of the two cameras...."

Budget Camera Packs in Quality
The only drawback in buying a Canon nowadays is that you know there will be an incremental improvement in just a year or so. It'll be lighter, faster, smaller, and sometimes even prettier. Sure enough, the Canon PowerShot® A510 comes in to edge out its older brother, the A75, and sure enough, it's lighter, faster, smaller -- well, looks are about the same. The budget buyer will get a lot from this camera, from the 3.2-megapixel resolution that can take reasonably crisp photos, 4x optical zoom to get in close enough to the action, and even a movie function for those moments that call for video. This, too, is PictBridge¿-friendly for printing without a computer intermediary. Instead of CompactFlash¿, photos can be saved on an SD card. As with all Canon, color is gutsy. The viewfinder is on the small side, but using it will save battery life. Speaking of which, as with all digital cameras, this is a bit of a power hog, but nothing good-quality rechargeable batteries can't handle.

Image quality is exceptionally good, with spot-on metering and good auto-focus.
