Lightweight Digital Rebel Good Crossover for SLR Users
Review From: editorialreviews@nextag.com, Dec 22, 2006
Ever-improving digital cameras testify to the breakneck speed of technology. Canon's always-respected family of Rebels started off as single-lens reflex cameras. Newer generations have split off between manual and digital SLRs. Released Winter 2005, Digital Rebel XT comes along in a tiny package, barely five inches wide, less than four inches high, a little more than two and a half inches deep, and less than two pounds. Yet, as its vaunted 8.0-megapixel capability might hint, the XT packs in some nice features: a CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor with the same pixel dimension as the fancier EOS Digital Rebel, seven-point autofocus, 12 exposure modes, and a Digic II processor.

The shutter noise is quiet (although some users report a rattling from the pop-up flash hinges) and the camera is fast at three framers-per-second, with a 14-frame burst, and a 0.2 second startup. Those with large hands might find the Rebel a runt, but a battery grip accessory can be attached for a more manageable hold. This is an entry-level Rebel for wonderful everyday use and a good transition for consumers crossing the digital divide from manual SLR. This version comes in black.

A good all-a-round camera
Review From: Josh Stonewell, May 13, 2008
A good camera is hard to find. I was lucky to get this model in my hands. Anyway, this camera feels steady in hand and the start-up time is fast. Picture quality is good, though I've seen much sharper image quality than in this camera.

Great Camera
Review From: Pat Phillips, Sep 3, 2007
I have a canon Rebel xti and I love it ! I chose the canon over the Nikon because of two reasons. I. there wasn't really that much difference between the two cameras. 2. The price ! The canon was about three hundered dollars less.

All anyone could ask for.
Review From: Alan Voetsch, Nov 27, 2006
The image quality is awesome. There are so many features that it will take years to learn them all. I moved up to this one after having 350XT for only a few weeks as I wanted the larger sensor.

EXCELLENT CAMERA!!!
Review From: Sean Wible, Aug 31, 2006
I bought this camera to replace my 35 mm camera and it is the best purchase I have ever made!!! The pictures are vibrant and absolutely perfect every time. Extremely easy to use right out of the box, with plenty of features that make it useful to camera experts as well. What I like best about this camera is that it doesn't have the delay associated with most digital cameras, and is excellent for action shots! I would recommend this camera to anyone. It is worth the extra money!!!

REFORMAT MEANS ERASE
Review From: discoballman007@yahoo.com, Apr 25, 2006  | See All Reviews
I used the Rebel in Hawaii and Japan on Vacation. I used a Ultra 2, 2 gig card, about 515 photos. When I was scrolling through the menu, I came across FORMAT. I highlighted it and it said "Cancel" or "O.K". Needless to say, I accidentially reformatted my card and lost 400 shots. Including wedding photos. I was shocked and the wife... well let's just say it was jaw dropping and bad. Make sure you understand what you're doing when in the FORMAT section. Also, my wife found a website called recover image or something...paid 30 bucks and recovered 98% of all the photos lost. Remember, If you delete or reformat by accident, do not take any more photos on that card and research about recovering your images. It is possible. Otherwise...The Rebel is a fantastic camera. The FORMAT is not very clear, if you choose the wrong button, you're screwed. Good Luck.

Best Still Camera I have owned!!
Review From: Craig, Dec 9, 2005
I have been a pro photog off and on for 30 years. This is the best still camera I have owned over the years. Some say it is too small. Well, put a lens on it, battery grip, and it's not the pee-wee camera you might think. Picture quality is excellent, speed outstanding, full auto is amazing! You won't be sorry with one of these. It is no wonder it is one of Canon's best sellers.
