User Review: In low GPS coverage (heavy tree canopy) the speed sensor keeps my ride distance accurate within reason. I did have it loose synchronization with my Edge after I washed my bike.

Nice product!
"...Bought this to go with my Forerunner 50. The 50 was pure junk so I returned it and bought a 305.
Together they make a great pair for my road bike. Gives me cadence and when I'm on a trainer it gives me speed.... See more

Garmin GSC 10 Speed and Cadence Sensor
"...
Have used one with a Garmin Edge on a full suspension mountain bike (two years 7,000 miles) and one with a cross bike (two months) and it performs well on both bikes in all weather conditions. Some folks have switched to a cheap rare earth magnet in place of the strap-on magnet that comes with the sensor.... See more

Great addition to Forerunner 305
"...I think the directions could explain it better. Once you sync it...make sure you hit the reset button...have your watch scanning for the device...and spin the wheel to engage the magnets it syncs.
You never have to sync it again...just turn on the Garmin and it finds it. It's great to not have to run wires on your bike.... See more

Fantastic Device
"...
I recently tried the Timex Speed/Cadence sensor which is horribly difficult to get working. In comparison, the Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor is superior in every way.1) It's a single device instead of separate sensors2) Install couldn't be easier - the speed sensor arm rotates toward the tire and tightens with a screw - excellent engineering by Garmin's team!3) The device includes sensor guide lines on the device so you can be sure the sensors/magnets are in EXACTLY the right placeI use this device with my Timex Global Trainer GPS watch.... Works Well on Road Bikes
"...
Works well on road bikes and stiff-tail mountain bikes. For full suspension mountain bikes, which I use for commuting, the mounting does not place the cadence sensor in the proper position for use.... See more

Pros: I have one of these on my main bicycle and it is awesome.
"...The battery was dead. I replaced the battery, and while the light came on, it wouldn't pair with my Gamin 705.
The 705 pairs just fine with the other cadence/speed sensor on my main bike, so I know the problem was with the unit. I spent my $5 postage to send it back, and get a replacement.... See more

Good for Dry Season, Not Waterproof

I switched from a Blackburn model which i've used for two years and over 10,000miles to this one which only lasted ~2months. It worked fantastic when roads were dry but only until received its first rain.... See more

Needs improvment
"...I was excited to get this to go with my Forerunner 50 but the bottom line is it doesn't work well at all.
The sensor stops sending data relatively quickly, like while waiting for a stop light, once you stop pedaling and does not start back up automatically. So I've had quite a few rides where all data post stop light was lost.... See more

Compatability with Oregon 300
"...I guess I should have read more about it before I purchased it since I was expecting that it would give me my speed as well as cadence on an Oregon 300 gps. You might not think that would matter since the gps gives you that anyway.
Well, not on a staionary bike. It would be great to get cadence, speed, and heart rate for use as a fitness monitor.... See more |
