I have watched the evolution of GPS since some of the early products by Trimble, Panasonic, and others in the early 90's. In addition I have owned and used Garmin and Magellan GPS products for more than 10 years.
This latest release from Garmin, or more accurately, released just prior to model 2820 is phenomenal in all respects but one.
It self locates and accurately maps to desired locations. I plan on using in more than one vehicle; therefore, a portable such is this is preferred over factory installed navigation systems.
The only area I down ratted this system is because of lack of self-charging battery back up. This is the one feature Garmin overlooked in product specifications. The case appears large enough to house lithium ion batteries to facilitate short periods of portable use. All in all a great product!
Buy it, you will not be disappointed.

THE DAY I PLUGGED IN THE UNIT I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH HOW THE 2730 WORKED COMPARED TO OTHER UNITS I HAVE USED. ALSO HAVING THE XM ON THE UNIT WITH THE ANT WAS GREAT FOR ONE PACKAGE.

I am thrilled with the features of this unit. It does everything described absolutely perfectly. The XM radio is a wonderful feature, easily moved from car to car with this product. The operation of the XM radio is somewhat difficult, but it does work very well. The traffic nav subscription is very, very cool, and works so well.

Bought this GPS 3 months ago through Nextag search engine. Brought on vacation to New England. Fantastic GPS! We would not been able to find locations without this GPS. No matter where we traveled, we felt assured we could find our way even in remote areas. Voice prompts are in English, British, or Australian. Tells you upcoming turns. Love the XM radio and weather forecast. Warns you of severe weather. Finds restaurants, ATM, Hotels. Historical and amusement points of interest. XM radio works through FM transmitter. Sandbag weight mount stays secure on dash so it is easy to transport to any vehicle. Also has permanent mount if so desires.
