Federal Turbotax is designed to be welcoming and sensible. Ease of use is high for the most basic functions. The state forms have good intentions, but do not necessarily bring in all the relevant information, nor exclude all inappropriate data. In particular, Turbotax fairly explicitly does not support use in families with members resident in two states. I would also not try it for business interests in multiple states unless you plan to go over the state forms, directly, in excruciating detail. A particular peeve is that, when turbotax miscalculates, or automatically brings in inappropriate information, there is often no way to over-ride it. Other peeves: 1. multiple attempts to re-enter information crash the program 2. there are not enough save / re-entry points into the state forms, so you may have to click repeatedly through long lists of strange and (for most people) irrelevant state deductions. The flaws detract from the otherwise above average "ease of use."
