Unimpressive Camcorder to Record Both Video & Still Images
Review From: Riju, Apr 1, 2005
Although the Panasonic VDR-M50 camcorder can record video directly to blank DVDs, it faces one important technical limitation due to the format of the DVD used for recording. Most DVD players play only DVD-R format. Unfortunately you can't perform non-linear editing on the VDR-M50 with a DVD-R. For that, you require a DVD-RAM format, which is incompatible with most DVD players. So I wasn't able to edit my home video and was all the more disappointed when I put the DVD in the player to view the home video I had recorded. Both video and still image quality were unimpressive. The image colors looked pale and images weren't sharp. Images shot in dim light appeared pathetic. One good point, basic controls of this camcorder can be conveniently operated by the thumb and the forefinger. People who want to record high-quality DV format should pass over the VDR-M50.
