Its not quite what I thought it would be.
"...I buy a lot of digital still camera equipment, and I wanted to add to the list a good compact HD video camera.
The HDR-CX7 fell short of the mark.
I was really disapointed by the poor video quality.... See more

Great form factor, HD video quality a slight letdown
"...
I have mixed feelings about this one -- although it takes great video, it pales in comparison to the Canon HV20 and Sony HC7.
Although I can edit the video in Sony Vegas to fine-tune the color and sharpness, it just doesn't have the 'crispness' that the HV20 does.... See more

Great Camera - The most important thing to know is that the software supplied with the camera will not work with other memory cards.
You can only use Sony memory in order for all of the automatic software features to work.... See more

Good hardware, poor software and proprietary video format
"...I purchased this because of its small size and HD video quality. I was happy until it came time to burn a DVD.
This camcorder makes video files in a proprietary video format of M2TS, which requires you to use their supplied software only – the new formatdoes not work with anything else.
Even when you use the “easy” DVD creation process, it creates a proprietary DVD that can only be played on “Sony” equipment.... See more
