Strengths are very good video and audio quality using high definition inputs, 3 HDMI inputs and a single HDMI output to TV which handles both component and HDMI inputs. I also like provision for renaming the inputs (DVD Rec, HD DVD, Cable TV, etc. rather than default Video1, Video 2, etc.) Auto sound calibration is helpful but not precise. The unit does not upgrade resolution of component inputs, but simply converts signals from analog to digital to allow output over the HDMI cable. (My standard definition Signals from cable box are displayed as 480p on my Sony HD TV.) Receiver is plain and boxy looking, remote control is big but logically organized. Given ample space, the receiver runs surprisingly cool.
