Review From: NexTag Editorial Review, Mar 30, 2005
The Sony VPL-HS51 is an LCD front
projector with 1,280 x 720 pixel
resolution. The projector?s 1.6x zoom
lens allows for projection on 40 to 200-
inch screens. The projector users an
ARC-F lens for improved focus and
Powerful Real Color Processing to
enhance colors and images. The VPL-HS51
also features a 1,200 ANSI lumen
brightness level and a high 6000:1
contrast level. Connectivity options
include two composite video inputs, an
HDMI input, an S-Video input, a
progressive-scan video input, and a USB
port.
Like many projectors, the VPL-HS51 runs
on a bulb that must be replaced every
2 - 3000 hours (depending on viewing
mode). Replacement projection bulbs can
also be quite pricey at around $300
each. Overall, the Sony VPL-HS51 is
best suited for home theater
enthusiasts who want to bring the
quality of theater movie watching into
their living rooms.
