The Sony a100 is a glass hungry camera that when fed performs like a champ. To extract every once of IQ from this camera you need fast (f1.4 to f2.8) lenses. Don't get me wrong it will give you an excellent picture even with the kit lens; it just is too hemmed in with it. I am now shooting with 17 through 200mm f2.8 (zoom) lenses and with 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm, and 135mm lenses. The results go beyond stunning! With these I have found that folks are asking me to take pictures more than I ask them.
