Quality Product at a Low Cost
Review From: Shyam, Jun 9, 2005
I purchased this lens for my Canon Digital Rebel and I'm quite happy with its performance. This lens is not as good as the Canon 17-40L lens, but at almost 1/3 of the price of the, it's the most cost-effective solution for good photography. The Tamron lens is a tad slow but its quality is as good as the Canon 85mm. The lens is very compact, light weight, and has a polycarbonate body. Though it seemed to be less durable than lenses with metal bodies, this is not at all true. The only major drawback to this lens is its AF, which is inconsistent in low light situations, such as indoor photography requiring flash. There are also slight distortions at the wide end of the zoom. However my digital camera can compensate for this problem. The contrast of the lens is perhaps the best in comparison to other lenses of the same value. I love the price and the image quality of the lens and consider it to be the best buy for people on budget who refuse to compromise quality.
