"Nightmare never ever again. Ordered a Washer/"Gas" Dryer & dishwasher. They show up with an electric dryer. Said they prefer to install everything together. Rescheduled, can't install dryer because shut off is not "next to the dryer". Nothing was said the first time around. Standing there with a valve in hand installation people tell me they can't do it. They just carry the valve "in case they need it". Laughing while leaving they discuss happy hour at the bar. Appointment rescheduled for 2 weeks later. Day before I get a call dishwasher was sold and not available for 4 weeks. They do not care, the worst customer service ever experienced! I will never shop there again, not even a plant."

"Bought a dishwasher and arranged to have Home Depot install it. When the two guys came with the dishwasher they informed me that they couldn't install it because the discharge hose that came with the dishwasher wasn't long enough to reach my garbage disposal and I would have to buy one. They couldn't wait until I went to a store and got one and told me they would have to reschedule an installation date. They then told me that the dishwasher was too far from the disposal (9') and they could not install it at all. (The specs on the delivery sheet said the max distance could be up to 10 feet.) I think these guys just didn't want to do the work. It wans't a new install - I was replacing an older unit. When I called the store to complain I finaly reached someone who told me they couldn't do the install because of a code problem. I checked - this is not true. A registered plumber that I hired had NO problem installing the dishwasher three days later. Oh yes - the discharge hose that came with the dishwasher was the only hose needed to do the job. Gee - they didn't need an extension. This was 100% unlike the fence installation I had from Home Depot two weeks ago. They were here on time and had the job done in 2 hours. They did an excellent job with the fance. They did NOTHING with the dishwasher. "

"Ordered windows from HD with installation. Entire process was a nightmare from start to finish with missed appointments, no return phone calls, incorrect measurements, wrong parts and no help from the company's regional office in Albany. Total incompetence throughout the process. The more I talked to people, the more I realized that this is an ongoing trend with HD in the Hudson Valley/Albany region. Eventually gave up and paid another contractor to correct/complete the job, as I couldn't put a price on my sanity. I gave the regional HQ many opportunities to rectify the situation, but they were even less competent than the rest of the people I dealt with. Will never use, nor recommend, HD for another project again. "

"I call them Home DESPOT. Got a Kitchen, complete. Started in March, finished in Jan. of the following year...incorrectly. Parts were on my bill I never ordered, when they were returned, they were not credited. Workmen didn't show up, and the craftsmanship was shoddy. Went into collections over a non-existant kitchen. Paid a lawyer instead. Ruined my credit. BEWARE"

"I purchased a Pagasus Middummer Collection vanity from Home Depot. The unit was missing 3 pull knobs. The installation instructions gave a 800 number to call for missing parts. Calling that number I was told that they did not make that collection. Home Depot's website gave another 800 number to call for warranty issues on same collection. Calling that number I got a recording that the number has been disconnected. Home Depot did not make good on the knobs but said I could return the unit. Unit was installed so this was not an option. So now I need to buy six knobs to replace all since I can't match them!"

"I quit buying from Home Depot several years ago when they failed to provide me with a gift card they were supposed to. I purchased Corian countertops and was told that if I purchased a $150 sink from them to go in it, I would get a $250 giftcard. I did and they didn't! Home Depot "farms" out the giftcard program to a private contractor, and it is impossible to get them to do anything, or even talk to you. They finally told me that the sink I bought didn't meet the requirements. Huh? Unfortunately, I had kept everything but the giftcard application that showed the requirements, and they wouldn't send me a copy of it. Contacting Home Depot directly about it proved fruitless. My advice: if you do buy something from H.D. with the promise of a giftcard, keep a copy of everything, but don't expect them to honor it."

"A manager told me that most of HD items that are listed in-stock is a entisement to get you into the store.Over 75% of HD's items are online only but state they are in stock in stores.Makes you wonder who is the bigger fool ,me for going to the store,or them for listing something they don't even stock!"

"I ordered a rug runner at Home Depot. It took 14 business days to deliver, while many companies take 1/2 that time. The price was good, with free s&h. The day I received the rug, I like it so much, I went back online to order the same rug in different sizes. They were on sale now. I contacted cust. svc to see if they would credit me the difference between the $ I just paid and the sale price. No one bothered responding. Three negatives to shopping HomeDepot.com: longer than others' delivery time (though not horrible), returns must go through the mail and not to your local Home Depot store (inconvenient and costly), and poor customer service (I would have at least appreciated a response to my email. Also, it's the policy of some companies to give you the sale price, if you've purchased the same product within a certain period of it going on sale)."

"Warning!!!Please do not purchase this God foresaken piece of contraption. I purchase this junk from The Home Depot in July 2007 and thought that it would serve the purpose of not having a window unit in my elderly mother's window for security reasons. It was okay the first cooling season and then stored it away properly as directed by the manufactors and brought it out for use in May 2008. In the Heat of by July 2008 this junk stopped cooling. the I took it to the recommended service person for repairs I was told that the compressor was gone up but covered by warrentee however the electronic panal was gone up as well and I was billed $149.00 for the electronic panal. $399. and $149.99 within a years time for this piece of junk is highway robbery and should be outlawed to have such on junk on the market to steal peoples hard earned money."

"I had a consultation appointment from Home Depot in Palo Alto CA for a possible kitchen remodel and the sales associate smelled like he took a bath in liquor. He was also extremely rude and he did not seem like he wanted to be there at all. This guy started to get angry because I said I wanted to look at my options before I decide to go with them. I was very polite out of fear of what this guy may do. He started saying things like, If you didnt like it. You should have said something and not wasted my time. He kept complaing the whole time he packed up his equipment. I am a woman and all I could think was, How do I get this guy out of my home safely! I will never call Home Depot again for them to send deranged drunks in my home. I feel I cant even complain because this guy seemed unstable and knows where I live. BEWARE!!! "

"We were looking for an item in Lansing, MI at Home Depot and were unable to find the item. We asked a lady who worked there for the location of the item. She did not even stop to acknowledge us and keep walking in the other direction, saying that she did not work in that section. Others we asked were cold and indifferent as well. I'm not sure if all Home Depots are the same but it left us feeling like we didn't want to return. A simple question like asking for the location of an item should be dealt with in such a professional manner. Customer service is something that ever company should hold as an important aspect of their overall corporate culture. We went to Lowes and found the individuals courteous and professional. Unfortunately, as a result of our experience Home Depot will not be a place that we intend on visiting. "

"Ordered three 35"x10" floating shelves (PGM Products)and they arrived damaged. The ends and corners were smashed during shipping. The packing was sub-standard, as they were not packed in an oversized carton with proper packing material around the ends."

"We ordered carpet and vinyl flooring from HD because we had some credit with them. The price was OK (although not the cheapest). It was a real pain to finally get them to do it (after a few missed promiosed dates). The installation quality however was definitively sub par. The vinyl was not installed so it would not roll up at the edges. It is not so clearly visible, as it is 3 inches under the cabinet, but nevertheless. The carpet seams then came apart. I have to admit, they did come back and fix it. What bothers me the most, is that we have now leaned that they overcharged us by almost 15% (and as such they were actually one of the most expensive quotes we had)!"

"I wanted to purchase a 10X13 carpet from the Home Depot store in Riverhead, NY but they wanted $75 to deliver it less than 5 minutes from the store. And even that was "curbside delivery only", they wouldn't even bring it into the garage, let alone upstairs. AND the associate I dealt with was very rude. I ended up going somewhere else and buying Pergo. I won't give Home Depot another dime. There is NO customer service at this store. "

"I wish I had seen this before ordering online from HD. I ordered 11 path lights for $15 each. The regular price was $59 each. After eight days I get an email stating my order was cancelled with no further explanation or alternatives (customers only have four hours to cancel orders by the way). I called customer service and was told the lights were no longer available and that was it. I asked if I could get a similar discount on a similar product since in the 8 days that had passed all the other sales had ended. They offered 10% off a similar item even though I was saving over 75% on my order. I even talked to a supervisor with the same result. 10% off take it or leave it. I left it and hung up. They won't get another dollar from me."

"We ordered appliances for our new home from Home Depot and their Cleveland Ohio delivery crew set the appliances in the mud of our non-seeded yard. When they broke open the boxes the wind blew plastic and styrofoam into our newly excavated pond, which they did not retrieve. Once the muddy appliances were installed and they left, we discovered later that they did not properly fasten the dryer vent, which caused venting into our laundry room. The crew supervisor also stated that our plumber installed the water line to the dishwasher on the wrong side of the appliance, so he would not be able to install the dishwasher. Our plumber came later in the week and said the dishwasher hookup in the dishwasher is reversible, which the delivery installer should have known, so he switched it to accomodate our plumbing location. Home Depot's delivery service is so poor, we do not recommend them. It would be a waste of your time to try and solve delivery issues with management. That's probably why their managers are on the phone all the time."

"I ordered an area rug from Home Depot which never did arrive in spite of them sending email to me with UPS shipping information. I was told to stay home one day for delivery. It never came. I called that evening and complained and they said they again called UPS and UPS said it was on the truck and would be delivered that night. It never was. UPS never ever got it. I have been billed but have never received the rug. I cannot get credit until Home Depot finished their "investigation" into the shipment, whenever that is. What a nightmare. I will never again order from Home Depot."

"all I can say is too bad for us all. Since the conglomerates have taken all the small businessmen out, we get what we asked for bu supporting the big guys in the first place! Young people will never know what service is, as they have never known their local hardware. We did this to ourselves with bigger, better, faster! So to all of you complainers, just look in the mirror for the responsibility. If you had supported your local small businessman you would be getting service with a smile from someone you would probably know.We have let the bigboys take over and the BEST is yet to come.Wait till the one world order goes thru and see how you'll like that."

"Store #357 Coursey Baton Rouge, LA HORRENDOUS Customer Service Today I had the worst customer service in the history of customer service: spending 7 hours in home depot trying to buy a lawnmower. I had never in my life, trying to spend thousands of dollars in a store, and get treated like this. Assistance Manager Larry Cornelius lied to me on several occasions about a lawnmower I wanted while arranging for delivery and comes to find out, he tried to sell me a lawnmower that doesn't even work. He even refused to provide me service and wasted my time while walking around talking on his cellphone. In addition, Charlotte at one time called me a thief, and one other guy whom I failed to get the name, told me, once the lawn mower is delivered and if it doesn't work, it is my own problem. I'll have to find my own way to get it back to the store and loose my delivery fee. I feel like no customer should be treated this way. People there are just disrespectful except a few who tried to help but couldn't make any decision because Manager Larry is too busy on the phone."

"I purchased a Maytag stove at Home Depot in Yuba City,CA. as part of a complete kitchen remodel with Home Depot. There were problems with the stove from day one and when a Maytag service person came to our home he pointed out flaws in the stove that a lay person would not know about without other of the same model stove to compare. He told us that the stove was inferior and that Home Depot should replace it. The Yuba City store told us, "you signed off on it, you own it". We canceled our complete remodel with Home Depot, because I will not do business with people who don't stand behind what they sell. If you're an expert on stoves they might be alright to deal with, but if you're not, they will use your lack of stove knowledge against you and stick you with an inferior product."
