The prefect boot
"...The only thing is the heel has worn down due to to many miles. I am having the heels resoled today so I can get back on the trails.
I have not been disappointed in the purchase of these boots.

A Good Quality Desert Hiking Boot for Me
"...These areas are mostly pinion-juniper-ponderosa land interlaced with mesas that are almost exclusively without maintained trails or no trails. The land is arid and temperatures are warm-to-hot in the non-winter months.
I put about 175-200 hiking miles a year in my boots.
For me this requires a relatively sturdy boot with a balance between excellent stability & ventilation.... See more by Chewbacca, Sep 28, 2007
All around great boots
I'm a stickler for boots, so when my old ones gave out, I did my homework carefully to find the right replacements.
These boots broke in quickly, but have not gotten too soft.... See more by J_D, May 23, 2010
Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots
"...My Foot Profile: Wide, very low arch, high in-step. It took me a long time to find the right boot to fit my feet.
The Vasque Clarion is a really awesome boot for me and unlike other "wide" hiking boots these have wide soles as well which gives me the support I need when the trail gets technical.
Break in was a breeze and the gore-tex liner has not let me down yet.... See more by SomethingaboutNothing, Jul 11, 2012

Initial review
Being as how I have only had the boots one month this review is based only on break in time.
I used the boots in the Hetch Hetchy area mostly--took them down the Poopenaut trail which is about a 2 mile hike in and out but an elevation difference of 1229' both ways.... See more , Sep 30, 2008
8 years of comfort
Bought my first pair of hiking boots 8 years ago and it is finally time to replace them.
Never thought I would find the same make and model but I have and now I look forward to 8 more years of hiking in comfort with my Vasque Clarion GTX hiking boots... See more by Kingfish, Jan 2, 2009
Great boot, bad sole
"...Lasted about half the time a boot of this cost should last. Sole cracked laterally half way across the ball area of my foot allowing water in.
No choice but to throw out otherwise good boots.
I will not buy another pair of boots with these soles.... See more by dbroyl, Jan 1, 2008
Bad Boots
"...I am an avid backpacker and hiker.
My last pair of backpacking boots, that lasted 10 years, was Vasque.
But the new ones are poor quality and the fit is poor and are not breathable.... See more by carbonates, Oct 13, 2007
Least durable boots I've ever owned
"...I bought a pair of these to take to Africa.
I'm a geologist so hiking boots are my daily wear.
I spent about 3 months in East Africa in the Great Rift wearing these boots daily.... See more by Haplo, Feb 5, 2008
very disappointed with Vasque
"...They do have good grip on rough surfaces and they are warm and mostly comfortable. However, one other big drawback is these things are huge!
I cannot drive my manual trans car while wearing them (unlike my K-Swiss hiking boots which are fantastic).
While not overly heavy, they do have a good amount of weight though I've never worn them long enough to get fatigued.... See more by rakljk, Jul 18, 2010
Boots no longer reliable
"...Since they fit my wide feet and are very comfortable, I have used this boot for many years.
However, the last four pair of boots have all worn out after about 6 or 8 months of regular usage.
In all cases, the soles split apart.... See more
