I've read so many reviews about the F-727. As it is with most high tech equipment, there are seemingly bad experiences and there are good. For me, first and foremost, I was able to rid myself of so much case space. The F-727 is a solidly built piece of equipment, of a quality I expect from Pioneer (I now also have the superb Pioneer 507XD plasma). The F-727 does exactly what it says on the box, it is relatively quick to move from disc to disc, and it has well above average output quality (especially in component mode at 576i). One thing that everyone seems to agree on is the sleek simple menu system and remote control.
One word of caution: write down the disc titles in the disc positions before you enter the data into the unit (via a keyboard) - much much faster that way. Max 12 Char disc title display is only a problem for those who can't decipher their own shorthand (where needed). I've not found it a problem. I use mine in the UK via a simple 240/120 converter. I only wish they sold the product here but the US company I bought mine from evidently did an excellent job on the chipping - region 2 straight out of the box. This unit may have been around a good few years but you wouldn't know it from the specs and its operation... and the 301 disc size means its not much larger than my Denon AVR (just a little taller). Drawbacks are that it does need initial concentration to set up and the search facilities are weak. Maybe we'll see a Blueray or HD version in the future but, for the moment, I thoroughly recommend this unit.
