Great GPS, but poor accuracy

When I am geocaching, my GPS is always 20-35 feet off or as I move slower near the cache, it becomes very inconsistance. My old yellow etrex always gets me within 5-8 feet. This is very frustrating. Kids may have wasted their money on getting me this birthday gift.
