Lower Prices Help Digital Cameras Take Seven of Twelve Spots on NexTag's List of Most Popular Products

San Mateo, Calif. (December 2, 2003) - For the third year in a row, digital cameras were the most sought after consumer products online during the three days following Thanksgiving according to NexTag, a leading online comparison shopping service. Over the Thanksgiving weekend (November 28-30), which is recognized as the official start of the holiday shopping season, digital cameras accounted for seven of the 12 most popular products that consumers used NexTag to find online.

"The continued high demand for digital cameras and other consumer electronics comes as no surprise when you consider how far prices have fallen over the past year," said Purnendu Ojha, CEO and co-founder of NexTag. "Our popular Price History feature helps shoppers know when it is the right time to buy and, since last Thanksgiving, the prices of digital cameras have fallen by more than 24 percent category-wide."

The holiday weekend also gave NexTag a huge boost in visitors to the site. More than 1.9 million shoppers (1) used NexTag to find and compare products over the three days, representing an increase of 302% over last year when 481,569 shoppers used the service over the same period following Thanksgiving.

This increase follows a pattern of growth that NexTag began last holiday season and then accelerated in January when NexTag expanded its product categories beyond its base in consumer electronics to include all types of products. Since last October, the number of unique users visiting NexTag has grown by more than 91%, to 5.4 million users, making it the fastest growing comparison shopping site according to Nielsen/NetRatings.
